What's different about 31?

You can't say "I just turned 30" anymore. I had a great birthday weekend with my friends and family. I chose one of my favorite restaurants for my birthday dinner, Babes Chicken House. I always order the chicken fried steak. I am glad that some of my friends were able to join us!

The kiddos enjoyed the Hokey Pokey

Tim was sweet to help Davin.

Claire, not so much but we tried.

I will forgive my friends for making me wear that stupid chicken hat in which they made me flap my arms like a chicken someday.
Ben in a chicken fight! Ha Ha!!

Claire and Rachel are buddies.

The kiddos still wanted birthday cake, but all of us old folk were too full.

Saturday morning was the Sharks season opener. Ethan is in U8, and this is their first season to play 5 with a goalie. He had a blast at goalie, and he did well at it.

Claire enjoyed playing with Kate.
Anna and Davin always keep each other entertained at practice and games. Their favorite game recently has been to pretend like they are babies with Claire's stroller.

After Ethan's game, we headed to Rosa's for lunch with the family then back to my mom's for more birthday fun. August 31st is my brother's 22nd birthday. We had a dual celebration since I will be at back to school night on James' actual birthday.

James looks so thrilled. He has that nasty cold as well.

Grandma bought Claire her own riding toy since she and Davin had been fighting over the bus. Riding their cars together is now one of their favorite past times.
It is so cute the way Davin pushes his sister along.

She gets upset if she thinks you are going to take her car.

It was a great weekend! I am very blessed.

12 months....already

My sweet Claire had her well-check this week. Those things seems to be a curse that will ensure that she will not be so well. She still has that blasted cold, and Dr. Dhoot said we would have to bring her in when she is all better for her shots. I must admit that I don't mind putting those off just a little while longer.

At 12 months she weighs 19.2lbs (20%) and is 29 in.(50%). Yes, she is walking. Walking is a bitter sweet moment to me. It means the chase is on, but I don't have to worry about her scrapping her knees up anymore. She still wears a size 3 diaper, and size 3 shoes. 12-18months are still a bit too large for her. Her 9-12 months are just fine. I am hoping we make it to cooler weather in this size so I can just start over.

She has added a couple of new phrases to her vocabulary like, "stop that" and "get down." She loves to eat ice chips. If she is fussy I can give her a cup of ice chips and she is all smiles again. She seems to like whole milk just fine. She especially loves ice cream, but who doesn't? She eats just about anything we do. She gives great big hugs, and tries to console people if she thinks they are upset. She is just about the sweetest little thing ever!

I thought it would be really neat to start blogging about some of the boys past events since I wasn't a blogger until recently. There is a "funny" story about getting these pics on this post. I got on our old laptop last night to discover that Doug deleted all the Kodak easy share software from the computer because we don't use it anymore. He didn't realize that he also erased every single existing picture that had ever been taken of the boys up through last fall in the process. I had a total and complete melt down. Yes, I was all out bawling!!! Doug didn't know what to do or say. It ended up that we had saved all those files to disc. His life was spared, and I regained sanity. I knew we had backed up some, but I didn't know we had backed up all of them!!! Thank God!!!! I will be putting my photos on disc a little more often now I think!!

At my sweet little Davin's first birthday he was also sick. I'm not sure why, but he had been running a fever off and on all day that day a the day prior, but he still ended up in a pretty good mood.

Davin at 12 months: weight 21.2lbs (30%); 29 and 1/2 inch. (45%)

We called Ethan the energizer bunny at 12 months because he just kept going and going. He started walking at 9 and 1/2 months, and was running around McDonalds at his first b-day party. At 12 months Ethan weighed 22lbs (30%) and was 29 1/2 inches (45%). I have tons of pictures of his first party, but I only have a few on the computer. Most of his pics were taken with a camera that had film, and I have them in the cutest little album that matched his birthday party theme. He also has a super cute baby book. It's amazing how quickly things change. After I got my first digital camera I stopped printing pictures. I am pretty sure I don't have a single printed pic of Davin or Claire's first year, and I certainly don't have a cutesy baby book. That is what this blog is supposed to be!

He had super blond hair!I think Claire looks a lot like Ethan.

He was the sweetest little thing! It is hard to fathom that this sweet baby boy will be 8 years old next month!

2nd grade begins

I would be lying if I didn't admit that Ethan telling me he didn't need me to walk him to class this morning because he is in 2nd grade didn't break my heart just a little bit. He just looked so big to me today for some reason. He is really growing up fast.

Mrs. Greenlee is his teacher this year, and Ethan is very excited about being in her class. I hope that they both have an awesome year!

The first day of school is always exhausting to the kids and the teachers alike. All three of my kids fell asleep in the car on the way home, and they all stayed asleep until 6:45! Yikes!!!! This was not a great way to get our schedule back on track. Davin and Claire have horrible colds, and I wanted to let them get some much needed rest. The downside is it is after 9:00, and Claire is still up. I guess I'll have to see what the doc says tomorrow at her "well check."

Happy Birthday weekend, Claire!

I almost can not believe that my sweet baby girl is already a big one year old! My did the time fly! We had a small family party Friday evening for Claire. We all had a good time all things considered. Everyone was kind of tired from my first week back at work, and all of us are having coughing/congestion issues that resulted in a Claire that was not as interested in her birthday festivities as I was hoping she would be.

We had macaroni salad and burgers for dinner. Notice Diesel in his normal spot next to the high chair?

Claire is taking steps...lots of steps....but she still crawls if she is tired or in a big hurry. Dare I say my sweet girl is walking? I think so....

She acted a little startled by the singing and the candle.

I was all ready for the huge mess, but she really didn't make one.

Claire loves her little house from Doug and I. Oddly enough so do her brothers.
Grandma always gets everyone a little something so no one feels left out.

Her brothers bought Claire her very own little people car to push around. Maybe this will reduce the fighting over the fire trucks somewhat.

Happy, Happy Birthday my beautiful baby boo!!!

After Claire was finished opening her presents, the boys, my parents, Whitney, and James headed off to spend the night in the RV at Hickory Creek Park on Lake Lewisville so they could watch the hot air balloons launch at the balloon festival the next morning. The only stinky part was it was so windy that only 1 balloon lifted off.
Doug, Claire, and I joined them on Saturday evening for a cook out, and to watch the balloon glow across the lake.
The kids enjoyed playing at the park right in front of my parents RV spot.

Davin had hit the wall by late evening.

The balloons

Claire did better eating her cake for left overs the next day.

I thought this was so sweet! Davin was throwing a fit in the hall way thus crying, and Claire crawled over to him and starting hugging him to try to make him feel better. I feel so fortunate that my kiddos all love each other so much!
