Happy 8th birthday, Ethan!

September 30, 2010 my Ethan Douglas turned 8 years old. It doesn't seem like 8 years have already gone by. Ethan was running a fever at school the day before his birthday, so he was not allowed to go to school on his actual birthday. He was really bummed by this because his grandpa was bringing him lunch for his birthday, and I had bought cupcakes for his class. He ended up with an October 1st rain check so it was all good.
Luckily, he woke up the morning of his birthday fever free (he still couldn't go to school because of the 24 hr. rule), and felt fine the rest of the day. His daddy even took him fishing, and we celebrated his birthday dinner at Red Robin where he enjoyed this birthday treat!

We also had cake and ice cream at home. Claire gobbled hers up! Can you tell it was already past her bed time???

Davin helped arrange the fire truck candles.
Those candles sure did light it up!

Claire and Davin got to open a gift from Grandma and Grandpa while Ethan was opening his gifts.
Ethan wanted to show off his loot!!

At 8 years Ethan weighs 57 lbs and is 49 inches tall. (Davin is currently 37 lbs and 40inches; Claire is 19 lbs and will not hold still long enough for me to get her inches)

I am amazed at grown up he seems to have become this past year. He still loves soccer, Nascar, and emergency stuff. His favorite show on TV is Rescue Heroes. He certainly has a mind of his own, and an opinion about everything! He remembers everything, and his sense of direction is flat out amazing! He loves to "work with his dad," ride his bike, scooter, and power wheels, and play with his friends. He loves his baby sister, and is very protective of her. He and Davin have their off moments, but anyone can see that they are best friends, and they love each other very much. They bugged Doug and I about wanting to share a room all the time last summer. They would tell us they need to sleep together because they are "bubbies." ......whatever that means!

We feel so blessed to have such a caring, smart, boy with a great since of humor.
