The boys begged me to go play in the "snow" all day, but that is not snow in this picture. It is mainly a lot of sleet. When Claire finally got up she parked herself in front of the fire place next to Davin. She even went and got her favorite breakfast, blueberries, off the kitchen table and took them over to her fireplace spot. She was so filthy!
We spent Tuesday afternoon playing Little People farm and amusement park, Mario Brothers Wii, and even some baby dolls and strollers. We were notified early that school would be canceled Wednesday as well. The boys and I snuggled up on the couch to watch Biggest Loser that evening. We spent Wednesday morning playing as well, but Claire was very fussy and clingy all day, and did not have much of an appetite. Davin had a horrible cough, but was acting relatively normal otherwise. By late afternoon, Claire was running 104 again, so we did the web check in at Carenow. The doc that saw her did a chest x-ray because he was concerned about her lungs not having cleared up from her illness a couple weeks prior, and he wanted to make sure there wasn't any pneumonia. Luckily there wasn't. The final diagnosis was an upper respiratory infection. She is on antibiotics, AGAIN. Davin started running fever Thursday morning, and complaining that his ear hurt. I called Dr. Dhoot's office, and they called in a prescription for him so we wouldn't have to drive to Flower Mound on the ice. Thank goodness!! It was announced that school would be closed Friday as well. As I was drifting off to sleep, I heard the forecast of a "light dusting" of snow in DFW over night.
Well, the forecast-ed "light dusting" ended up being more like 5"-8". I guess they were a little off. This made the roads even more treacherous ( I am so tired of hearing that word!)! The snow plows came out in full force today to get the highways clear for their precious Super Bowl 45! Some say it is the curse of Jerry Jones. I think of it as Jerry Jones' magic, and he just found a way to make the Packers and the Steelers feel more at home. It is kind of comical that all of this happened during "Super Week."
The kiddos had been begging to go out all week, and since we finally got snow and not sleet, we decided not to fight them any longer. I wasn't sure it was the best idea since they had been sick, but I bundled them up in lots of layers, and I am just going to keep my fingers crossed!
Poor Davin bit it really hard. You couldn't see where the curb and the street met, and he ran off full throttle.
There is so much snow that you can't even make out the where the driveway is, or where the street is for that matter.
I pushed back some of the snow on the sidewalk so you could see the inch thick layer of ice underneath it.
We walked over to the empty lots across the street from Levi and Ashlea's to sled on the incline.
We all decided to go in and have lunch and nap before trying to go to the big hill at the other side of the neighborhood. There were 8 of us total piled into Doug's truck including Micah and Claire to ride up to the big hill, and we drove right by a cop! Luckily he wasn't paying attention!! We all had a blast sliding down the big hill.
I love the boy's snowball wall. I thought this was a cool pic of Davin. This was very dry snow, and it did not pack very well.
This guy was pulling kids around the street on a tire. The only downside was that tons of snow flew up in your face the whole ride. This whole weather week has been absolutely crazy!! I distinctly remember thinking to myself last February on the day in snowed 13" that I would never see a bigger winter weather event in my lifetime in Texas. I guess I was greatly mistaken. We are supposed to get above freezing tomorrow for the first time since 4a.m. Tuesday so some of this can start melting. I admit it has been fun to be able to just hang out and play with my kids "guilt free," but I am kind of ready to return to at least some of our normal routines. There is more snow in the forecast for Sunday, during the Superbowl. There is also the potential for another "significant winter weather event" on Wednesday, but I'll believe it when I see it! LOL!
